Kruger and Shannon du Plessis from the KruShan Foundation are two friends of the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary. They have assisted with numerous previous donations towards the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary, including buying two gas fridges to keep the penguin meals frozen during heavy load-shedding in 2023. Now, they have warmed our hearts again!

This time, they secured funds to ensure we have a seabird ranger on Dyer Island, protecting and monitoring our African Penguins and seabirds 24/7.

Our Seabird Ranger plays a critical role in addressing the decline in the African penguin population, with a focus on Dyer Island. The Seabird Ranger, as a key component, will implement proactive measures and ensure the success of various conservation initiatives.

Thank you to the KruShan Foundation for contributing towards the Seabird Ranger’s efforts in safeguarding the African penguin population and contributing to the overall health of the marine ecosystem.

With our Conservation Partners, the Royal Portfolio Foundation and the Krushan Foundation, all expenses, salary, and equipment for our enthusiastic Seabird Ranger on Dyer Island have been covered for 2024! Thank you from the bottom of our penguin bellies!

Thank you for your interest and support in saving our African Penguins from extinction.
